Thuraya offers a unique product mix of mobile satellite and Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) services from one small handheld satellite phone. Thuraya has roaming agreements with many global phone GSM operators around the world that allows ease of use when satellite coverage is not required (within populated regions).

Thurava is a regional mobile satellite system that provides satellite telephony and data services to Europe, The Mediterranean, Northern Africa and the Middle East region covering more than 100 countries. Established in April 1997 and launched in late 2001, Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Co. is a consortium of over 21 national telephone companies and investment houses. It utilizes two geostationary satellites and a ground station based in Sharjah, UAE (United Arab Emirates).

Thuraya offers quality dual-mode terminals that offer satellite and GSM connectivity. This flexibility ensures continuous and cost-effective roaming for users.
